Anime in Ireland, or Irish anime characters?

I have noticed a lot of French characters and locations in Anime. So that got me wondering if there was ever an Anime set in Ireland, or one with an Irish character?

  • well, french has a lot of history and is a rich/vibrant setting for anime. sadly, ireland normally gets clumped with england so i don’t think there’s much, if any, out there that has an irish influence.

there’s only one that i know for sure is an irish character:

    Lancer from Fate/Stay Night

he’s based on an irish mythical hero (if you really want to know, you can spoil it by googling. although one of the interesting parts of the anime is to figure out each mythic hero.)

there might be an Ireland in Hetalia Axis Powers. or maybe it’s just the United Kingdom or England. not sure…

Tears to Tiara draws from celtic mythology. but, that’s not exactly irish.

Hakushaku to Yousei is set in scotland. but again, that’s not exactly irish.

there are lots out there that are set in england. but i can’t think of any other anime that would be considered irish. sorry i couldn’t help more. ^^

  • I know this is late but Durarara has an Irish fairy, and Kigeki is set in Ireland during its war of independence.
